Before you connect
- On your Mac, open System Settings → General → Sharing and enable Remote Login.
- Make sure your iPhone or iPad can reach the Mac on the same local network or through your tailnet.
- In CompilePilot, enter the Mac hostname or IP address, SSH port, and Mac username.
Pairing the Companion
The Companion is optional and free. With it there is no address to type, builds keep running when you leave the screen, and interactive Simulator is enabled.
- Download the DMG on the Mac, open it, and drag CompilePilot Companion to Applications. Open it from there.
- Look for its menu bar icon: a computer with a hammer.
- On your iPhone or iPad, open CompilePilot, tap Add a Mac, and search for nearby Macs. The first search may ask for Local Network permission.
- Click the menu bar icon and enter the six-digit code it shows into the app.
- If you cannot see the icon, check that it has not been pushed behind the notch: quit another menu bar app, or look at System Settings → Menu Bar.
- If your iPhone cannot find the Mac, confirm both are on the same Wi-Fi network and the Companion is open.
- If the Companion says Xcode is not ready, follow what its status window offers.
If something fails
- Verify the Mac is awake and Remote Login is still enabled.
- Try the same address and credentials from another SSH client.
- Review the raw command and complete build log in CompilePilot.
- With Tailscale, confirm both devices are connected and access rules allow SSH.
