The Companion is here

CompilePilot now works with the Companion, a free app for your Mac: it finds your Mac for you, keeps builds running when you leave the screen, and lets you watch and touch the Simulator from your phone. SSH connections work exactly as before.

What it brings

  • Your Mac shows up by itselfThe Companion advertises on your local network and the app finds it. There is no hostname or IP address to type.
  • Six-digit pairingA code the Mac shows and you enter on the device. The token stays in the Keychain on each side.
  • Builds outlive the screenLeave the build screen and come back: it keeps running, and tells you when it finishes.
  • Live SimulatorWatch your Mac's simulator from your iPhone or iPad, and touch it: gestures, keyboard, and hardware buttons.

SSH does not change

If you were already using CompilePilot over SSH, everything works exactly as before, and the Companion is optional. Building, testing, running, and distributing do not need it: the one thing it adds is interactive Simulator, on top of the convenience of your Mac showing up on its own.

What the Companion needs

  • A Mac with Apple silicon.
  • macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
  • Xcode installed, with its command line tools ready.
  • Both devices on the same local network.
How to get the Companion

As before: no account, no relay, and no CompilePilot server in between. Your device talks straight to your Mac, and your code never leaves it.
